Apple Website Hacked

Apple developers' website has just being hacked.  This was reported by Apple to its developers on Thursday.

Apparently Apple believes that even though developers information and credentials are encrypted, it is also possible for the attacker to have gotten his or her hands on some information.

However, Apple noted that immediately this compromise was detected, the website was taken down.

Apple had this to say to her developers.

"Last Thursday, an intruder attempted to secure personal information of our registered developers from our developer website. Sensitive personal information was encrypted and cannot be accessed, however, we have not been able to rule out the possibility that some developers’ names, mailing addresses, and/or email addresses may have been accessed. In the spirit of transparency, we want to inform you of the issue. We took the site down immediately on Thursday and have been working around the clock since then.

In order to prevent a security threat like this from happening again, we’re completely overhauling our developer systems, updating our server software, and rebuilding our entire database. We apologize for the significant inconvenience that our downtime has caused you and we expect to have the developer website up again soon."

Of course Apple is generally considered to have advanced security around all it offers which is one of the reasons some people choose Apple products over others.  If an attacker was able to gain access to Apple's website, it means that this attacker is super good and can be looking into having access to Apple App Store credentials which  contains credit card information of customers.

Apple would definitely have to do all it can do to avoid any future compromise.  Last thing Apple wants is for her products and services to be perceived vulnerable to hack attack.
